ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF ENERGY USAGE

An Energy Efficiency Programme can have Environmental Impact Reporting readily integrated, thereby reducing the need for seperate data collection and analysis. Reporting of results can be provided in many ways, to meet the need of individual Companies.

ISO 14001- ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Achieving Accreditation to ISO 14001 will require some reporting of Energy Use, and indications of how that can be reduced. Operating an Energy Efficiency Programme meets this requirement directly.

INDUSTRIAL POLLUTION CONTROL

Registering a site or facilities under IPC/IPPC Regulations will also be assisted by having an Energy Efficiency Programme, and the information that it provides.

CLIMATE CHANGE LEVY

The introduction of the Climate Change Levy in April 2001, aimed at reducing energy usage in Industry, adds a cost burden which can only be mitigated by reducing energy usage. An option is available to some Companies to enter a negotiated Agreement with Government, through a Trade Association, to receive a discount on this Levy. However, detailed Energy Performance data is a must for such an Agreement, which an Energy Efficiency Programme will provide.
